Understanding How Community Members Participate in Giving Back
Learn how your community members can participate in giving opportunities by adopting Items for memorial programs and sponsorship opportunities and claiming volunteer slots through Items.
Understanding Community Giving & Enagement
SeeMyLegacy was built to make community giving simple and rewarding. Community members want to feel more connected to their Communities and the initiatives, events, and spaces.
Community members can participate in Campaigns by contributing their money or time - these Campaigns are usually memorial programs, sponsorship opportunities, or volunteer activities.
Two Kinds of Items your Community Members can Adopt
Behind every Item is a button that says 'Adopt this Item' - your community members will see either a Stripe payment link or a form link behind that button. They are able to 'claim' that specific giving opportunity (an Item) by submitting payment or a form.
Items with a Price - Assets & Memorial Items
For Items with a price, payment can be collected through the SeeMyLegacy Payment Feature, or it can be collected by you and community members can claim the Item by submitting a form through the app.
Examples: memorial programs and sponsorship opportunities
Items without a Price - Volunteer Activities
For Items where you are requesting someone to contribute their time through a Volunteer Activity, community members can claim this opportunity with a simple form submission.
Examples: community cleanups, special events, or youth programs
What Happens When Somone Adopts an Item?
Our platform was designed to help streamline your processes. When someone clicks 'Adopt this Item' and submits payment or a form, a few things happen -
- Converts the Item from Available to Donated - so that no one else can claim the same opportunity, and it updates the Item to include donor/volunteer details.
- Email Notification - you will receive an email with the details of the contribution.
- Creates entry in Activity Log - this aggregates all of your donor/volunteer activity into an easily digestible format in the platform.
These are the updates that happen automatically, but we recommend updating the Item to include additional contribution details, such as updating the photos, name, and attaching a QR Plaque.
What Happens When Someone Adopts an Item?
Activity Log
Your Activity Log can be accessed in two places - through your Campaign, and through your 'Manage' tab. It gives visibility into all of the activity that your donors, volunteers, and sponsors are taking in the platform.
- When entries are created - When someone submits a form or payment on an Item, it will immediately create an entry in the Activity Log. If that Item is related to a Campaign, it will also show in the Campaign's Activity Log.
- Sort and filter the data - Donor/Volunteer contact information, dates, or the type of activity.
- Export the data - export a selection or all of it to Excel/CSV.
How do QR Plaques work with Community Giving?
While Campaigns celebrate contributions through Donated Items, community members can be thanked for their contributions with the gift of a QR Plaque, which is an aluminum plaque with a QR code that links to a Digital Story. QR Plaques are placed on Items so that anyone in the physical or digital world can learn more about the Story behind the contribution, beyond what a traditional plaque could do.
Digital Stories are a beautiful way to preserve your Community's legacy while also thanking those who have contributed in your Community!
